This article is part of our complete Wix guide.

A professional Wix business email such as hello@yourbusiness.com instead of yourbusiness123@gmail.com is one of the cheapest ways to look more credible. Customers trust it more, it matches your website, and it keeps your business communication separate from your personal inbox. Wix makes this fairly easy, but there are a few things most people do not realise: Wix itself does not run mailboxes, the setup depends on how your domain is connected, and email that is not authenticated correctly may land in spam. This guide explains your options, walks through setup step by step, and shows you how to make sure your messages actually reach inboxes.

  • Wix does not host email itself; it partners with Google Workspace, which you can buy through your Wix dashboard.
  • You can also use Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail or another provider by adding their MX and verification records to your domain.
  • Your domain must be connected to Wix (or managed in DNS you control) before email can work on it.
  • Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC so your emails are trusted and do not land in spam.
  • Create role addresses such as hello@, bookings@ or orders@ so email survives staff changes.

Why use a professional business email?

Think about the last time you received a quote from someone@hotmail.com. Even if the work was good, it probably felt less established. A domain-based address fixes that instantly, and it brings practical advantages too:

  • Trust: customers can see your email matches your website, which reduces suspicion of scams.
  • Brand consistency: every message reinforces your business name.
  • Control: the business owns the addresses. When an employee leaves, you keep their mailbox and its history.
  • Deliverability: with correct authentication, your messages are more likely to reach the inbox.
  • Integration: business suites add calendars, shared drives, video meetings and admin controls.

Does Wix provide email accounts?

Wix does not run its own mailbox service. Instead, Wix lets you purchase Google Workspace mailboxes directly from your dashboard and connects them to your domain for you. You then read and send email using Gmail, with your own domain as the address.

You are not locked into Google, however. If your domain is connected to Wix, you can use any email provider by adding the DNS records that provider gives you. And if your domain’s DNS is managed elsewhere (for example at your registrar or Cloudflare), you add those records there.

It is also worth knowing the difference between a mailbox and Wix’s built-in customer messaging. Form submissions, chat messages and booking notifications appear in your Wix dashboard inbox and can be forwarded to an email address, but that inbox is not a replacement for a full email account. Our Wix Forms guide explains how notifications work.

Which email provider should you choose?

The right provider depends on the tools your team already uses and how much you want to manage. Prices and plan details change, so check each provider’s current pricing before you buy.

Provider How you set it up with Wix Best for Notes
Google Workspace via Wix Buy and connect from your Wix dashboard Businesses wanting the simplest setup and Gmail interface Billing through Wix; includes Google tools such as Drive and Calendar
Google Workspace direct Sign up with Google, then add MX and verification records Businesses that want to manage Google billing and admin themselves Same product, billed by Google
Microsoft 365 Sign up with Microsoft, then add the DNS records it provides Teams that rely on Outlook, Word and Excel Records include MX, TXT and CNAME entries
Zoho Mail and others Sign up, then add MX, SPF and DKIM records Budget-conscious small teams Check features such as storage and mobile apps

Whichever you choose, the domain setup must be right first. If your domain is not connected yet, follow our guide on how to connect a custom domain to Wix.

How to set up Google Workspace email through Wix

This is the most straightforward route for most Wix users. The steps below describe the general flow; screens may differ slightly over time, so refer to the official Wix Help Center for current details.

  1. Make sure your site has a Premium plan and a connected domain. Email addresses are created on your domain, so it must be active.
  2. Open the email section of your Wix dashboard (often found under settings or domains) and choose to get business email.
  3. Select the domain you want to use, such as yourbusiness.com.
  4. Choose the mailbox plan and the number of mailboxes you need. Start with real people and add role addresses as aliases where possible.
  5. Create your first address, for example hello@yourbusiness.com, and set a strong password.
  6. Let Wix configure the DNS records. If your domain uses Wix nameservers, Wix can add the MX records automatically. If your DNS is managed elsewhere, Wix shows the records you need to add there.
  7. Sign in to Gmail with your new address and accept Google’s terms to activate the account.
  8. Add SPF, DKIM and DMARC as described below, then send test emails to an external address.
  9. Install the Gmail app on your phone and add your business account, so you can reply on the go.

How to use another email provider with a Wix domain

If you prefer Microsoft 365, Zoho or another provider, the process is similar for each:

  1. Sign up with the email provider and add your domain in their admin panel.
  2. Verify domain ownership by adding the TXT record they give you.
  3. Find where your DNS is managed. If your domain points to Wix nameservers, open the DNS records for the domain in your Wix account. Otherwise, use your registrar or DNS provider.
  4. Add the MX records exactly as the provider specifies, including priorities, and remove any old MX records you no longer use.
  5. Add SPF, DKIM and any CNAME records the provider requires for autodiscovery or authentication.
  6. Wait for verification, then create mailboxes and test sending and receiving.

A common trap: if you later switch your domain’s nameservers to Wix, records stored at your old DNS provider do not move automatically. Copy them into Wix first, or your email will stop working.

How to stop your business emails going to spam

Mailbox providers increasingly expect senders to prove they are legitimate. Three DNS records do this:

  • SPF (a TXT record) lists which services may send email for your domain. You should have only one SPF record, combining all senders (for example your email provider and any marketing tool).
  • DKIM adds a digital signature to your messages. Your email provider generates the key; you add it to DNS and switch signing on.
  • DMARC tells receiving servers what to do with mail that fails SPF or DKIM and where to send reports. Many businesses start with a monitoring policy and tighten it once everything passes.

Google publishes clear guidance in its email sender guidelines. If you also send newsletters through Wix email marketing, make sure your sender settings and domain authentication are configured as Wix recommends.

Quick deliverability checklist

  • One SPF record that includes every service that sends mail as your domain.
  • DKIM enabled with your email provider.
  • A DMARC record in place.
  • A professional signature with your name, business, phone and website link.
  • No sudden bulk sends from a brand-new mailbox.

Best practices for addresses and inboxes

  • Use role-based addresses such as hello@, info@, bookings@ or accounts@ for public use, and personal addresses for individual staff.
  • Use aliases or groups rather than paying for extra mailboxes when one person handles several roles, where your provider supports this.
  • Route Wix notifications sensibly. Send form leads to hello@, booking alerts to bookings@ and store orders to orders@, so nothing gets lost.
  • Turn on two-step verification for every mailbox.
  • Keep the admin account in the business owner’s name, not a contractor’s.
  • Match your website. Display your business email on your contact page and in your footer, and use the same address in your Google Business Profile.

Common business email mistakes

  • Changing nameservers without copying MX records, which silently stops incoming mail.
  • Having two SPF records. Multiple SPF records can cause authentication to fail.
  • Using a free webmail address on the website even after paying for business email.
  • Letting the domain expire, which takes the email down with it.
  • Sharing one password across the team instead of using proper accounts or delegation.
  • Never testing. Always send test emails both ways after any DNS change.

Frequently asked questions

Does Wix give you a free business email?

Wix does not include free mailboxes. You can buy Google Workspace email through Wix or use another paid provider with your Wix-connected domain.

Can I use Gmail with my Wix domain?

Yes. Google Workspace lets you use the Gmail interface with your own domain address. It can be purchased through Wix or directly from Google.

Can I use Microsoft 365 with a Wix domain?

Yes. Add the MX, TXT and CNAME records Microsoft provides to your domain’s DNS, either in Wix (if using Wix nameservers) or at your DNS provider.

Why are my Wix business emails going to spam?

Usually because SPF, DKIM or DMARC is missing or misconfigured, or there are multiple SPF records. Check your DNS records against your provider’s instructions.
